Begonia jiewhoei

Original price was: $34.Current price is: $28.

A cane species, Begonia jiewhoeii is native to Peninsular Malaysia. It is classified as critically endangered through the IUCN Red list, and named after Tan Jiew-Hoe.  In it’s native range it is rare, and grows on limestone banks.  In cultivation, I have not been supplementing with calcium carbonate and it grows very well, although it does do better than most Begonias in a rockier bonsai mix and would likely benefit from a regular dusting of chalk (lime is 98% calcium carbonate, and most blackboard chalk is calcium carbonate based).

Available plants are well rooted in 4″ pots.  They will be shipped potted.  The last photo is representative of the size plant you will receive.
