Begonia ferox ‘Green’
$40
I received this plant from a fellow grower as Begonia ferox ‘green’ but as this plant has matured it looks more like the standard form. There seems to a subtle difference in the coloration of bullae, so I’m keeping this name on for now, but please use your own judgement as to whether this warrants distinguishing from the standard ferox.
The paper describing ferox can be found here, “Novelties in Begonia sect. Coelocentrum: B. longgangensis and B. ferox from limestone areas in Guangxi, China,” Ching-I Peng et al.
from the above paper, it is found “on jagged limestone rocks in evergreen broadleaf forest; known only from the type locality in Longzhou County, Longgang Nature Reserve, Guangxi, China.”
Available plants are well established in 4″ pots. They will be shipped meticulously in their pots. The last picture is representative of the size plants available.
