Begonia bipinnatifida
$16
One of the few identified species from New Guinea. Historically, New Guinea has been very isolated and unexplored botanically, but new roads and deforestation due to palm oil plantations has resulted in more Begonias being documented and described from here. Bipinnatifida has been in cultivation for a long time in the US, and is not one of the new species available from this region. It is fern-like in its appearance, and can grow well in greenhouse conditions (doesn’t require *super* high humidity). Flowers are large and dark pink. This species seems to grow well on a range of media, but is perhaps best kept long-term on a mineral-rich media such as boon bonsai mix (1:1:1 akadama, pumice, and lava rock).
Available plants are well established in 2″ pots. They will be shipped meticulously in their pots.
