This is a classic terrarium fern, that has been in cultivation for a long time. It is remarkably fast growing for such a small fern, and will form dense carpets if given the chance. The leaves only reach about an inch long, and the rhizome is rather stiff, and hairy like a rabbits foot fern. It thrives in moderate light and high humidity, but will tolerate high or low light as well. Even for those ‘fern-challenged'(I include myself in this group) this one will treat you well! It has a very wide distribution throughout South America and the Carribean, and can be found in Brazil, Peru, Colombia, Bolivia, Paraguay, and Argentina.
