This beautiful Philodendron was found around Rio Blanco, at about 1800-2000m asl. This is one of two specimens seen, and the nicer clone of the two. The leaves were only about 4 or 5 inches long. Something that Chuck has always cherished and I have not fully understood until this Ecuador trip, are small aroids. Their rarity in the wild was hard for me to grasp, as in the terrarium hobby the only aroids circulating are those that remain small! This was probably the most striking Philodendron I’ve seen, and reminisce of Philodendron ‘peach tunnel’, but much darker.
That’s a stunner!
