Selaginella sp.

by Chuck Nishihira

A very pretty unidentified Selaginella species from Peru.  This one forms a small fan in bright green with light green tips.  The upright stem does not seem to get taller than a couple of inches. From this forms a fan of leaves about 2.5″ long.  It spreads by little stems that run on the substrate or a little below it.  A new fan pops up every few inches.  This one is a real charmer and while quite slow growing, in time creates a wonderful stand.
